Our client has been around for 50 years but are run by a young, dynamic team with big aspirations. Their continued growth means that they’re looking for new Customer Account Managers to join their team.
Role summary
You’ll be allocated an existing portfolio of approximately 300 clients for which you will have complete responsibility.
Your role will be to maintain and build our relationship with those clients. You’ll process their orders, deal with their enquiries and generally offer them a superb level of customer service. You will also need to be able to upsell and identify new opportunities with them.
Some of your clients will have a huge amount of untapped potential and your role will also involve an element of business development. We will focus on a series of campaigns to develop and win their business. You will also be encouraged to add existing clients to your portfolio and to succeed in this part of the role you will need to be able to use a high level of initiative to identify, approach and win new clients.
The majority of the role is carried out over the telephone but an ability to be able to deal with clients face to face is also important.

Experience & skills
Experience in sales of tangible products in a business to business environment is a prerequisite. A friendly personality and ability to win clients over are also essential.
Technical knowledge is not required but a willingness to learn and understand client’s needs is
An enthusiasm for selling, drive and the desire to achieve financial targets are the main attributes required to be successful in this role. Further key requirements include:
” A high level of initiative and ability to work independently
” The ability to work and interact with client senior level staff, engineers and administrative staff
” Commercial acumen (understanding profitability and costs)
” Exceptional communication and presentation skills
” Able to analyse and interpret data rapidly and effectively to provide customer insight
” Strong organisational and planning skills
” A good level of IT competency
Experience in B2B sales, particularly in builders merchants or double glazing would be a distinct advantage.
Training
They don’t expect their candidates to have industry experience or product knowledge so they offer a comprehensive training programme. In addition to initial induction training, they also offer a training academy to cover all aspects of their industry and product range. Qualification in each area contributes to a rise in your basic salary.
Commission
is paid on two distinct areas:
1. Orders taken.
Commission is paid as a percentage of the gross profit on all orders that you take. Levels are uncapped and they expect you to earn between £250 and £500 in commission.
2. Portfolio growth.
Commission in this area is based on the amount by which your portfolio has grown when compared with the previous year. Again, commission is based on growth, so an intelligent approach is required to maximize potential. They expect you to earn in excess of £750. Very successful Customer Account Managers should expect to earn several times this amount and there is no cap.
While targets are based on gross profit on sales, a significant focus is also placed on the quality of their service.
