Field Service Engineer UK Field-Based (South) £19.00 – £21.00ph Role Overview My client is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to carry out maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning of heavy machinery at customer sites across the UK. This role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys working independently while delivering a high level of customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting customers with effective technical solutions in the field. This is a front-line brand ambassador role with direct responsibility for customer satisfaction, cost control, and revenue protection. Key
Responsibilities Service & Maintenance Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults Carry out servicing, inspections, warranty repairs, and machine commissioning Complete major component replacements and software diagnostics Customer Support Act as the main technical contact on customer sites Provide professional updates and operational guidance to customers Escalate recurring issues and identify additional service opportunities Administration & Compliance Complete digital job reports, timesheets, and warranty documentation Record labour, parts usage, and maintain van stock accuracy Follow HSE procedures and complete site risk assessments
Skills &
Experience Essential NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Heavy Vehicle Engineering
Experience working on construction plant or heavy equipment Strong fault-finding and diagnostic
skills Full UK driving licence Ability to work independently in field-based environments Desirable Manufacturer training or technical accreditation Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations IPAF, PASMA, or electrical system
