Access Network Engineer – 300 Days of Sun

Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting to Head of Network Engineering and Operations, the Access Network Engineer will:

• Design and supervise the implementation of the local access network

• Design and develop record keeping and circuit identification schemes

• Lead vendor selection and testing for active and passive systems

• Manage and supervise third party contractor activities

• Work with the core networking teams to ensure end-to-end integration of the access network

• Provide the necessary documentation and processes, for the 24×7 NOC team

• Mentor junior engineering staff

Required Technical Skills:

• Detailed understanding of access network technologies (ADSL / VDSL / GPON / Ethernet)

• Deep understanding of networking technologies (IP / MPLS / Ethernet / Multicast)

• Experience in delivering multi-play services to residential consumers

• Familiar with fiber optic standards and systems at the physical layer

Personal Relation Skills:

• Flexible and adaptable approach

• Ability to generate ideas and improve with a minimum of supervision

• Good organisation and prioritization skills, and methodical approach to work

• Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation

• Happy to provide out-of-hours support coverage when required

Experience

• Familiarity with multi-vendor networking environments

• Juniper and/or Cisco routing and switching experience essential

• Previous experience in an ISP environment

• Track record of successful project delivery

• Good industry knowledge

Salary 30k – 35k based on experience with an excellent relocation package and private healthcare.
