2nd Line IT Support Engineer (Microsoft desktop and server, VMWare: Managed Services). This hugely successful IT managed services firm is seeking to hire an IT systems engineer, with both helpdesk support analyst and on-site experience, to join their highly motivated client support team. The firm offers general IT support and solutions consultancy and has rapidly expanded across a variety of markets. VMware and Microsoft accredited, they provide 24×7 telephone and on-site user support to a professional client group.

2nd Line IT Support Engineer – the Company:

Based in the heart of Covent Garden, our client is a friendly and privately owned business that has enjoyed a good level of organic growth and established itself as a key player within the London based IT Support sector, but does also have a national and international presence.

They are now seeking to undertake the next phase of growth, having invested in their data centre solutions, technology platforms and external marketing resource to underpin the ambitious growth plans, the company now offers a complete range of hosted technology services, outsourced IT services and IT products, as well as being a successful reseller for Microsoft products.

2nd Line IT Support Engineer – the Opportunity:

As an IT Support Engineer you will provide a 50/50 blend of telephone and on-site support service to users across London.

– providing 1st, 2nd and some 3rd line support, on-site and remotely
– liaising with clients by phone and email
– network administration and escalation management
– ensuring job management protocols are followed

2nd Line IT Support Engineer – the Candidate:

To be considered for this position, you must have worked for an IT services / managed services provider in a similar client-facing position:

  • Commercial IT helpdesk experience
  • PC Desktop and Server support in a Microsoft environment
  • Strong Windows Server 2008 and 2012 experience
  • Windows 7 and 8 experience
  • Knowledge of Office365
  • Good base-level PC hardware diagnosis and repair skills
  • A Microsoft accreditation – e.g. MCSE, MCSA, MCITP
  • Virtualisation: an understanding of VMWare – although further training and accreditations can be offered here
