An exciting opportunity for an ACCA or CIMA part qualified has arisen within a PE backed, multi site business based in London. This is a development role and as such we seek an individual with a minimum of 18 months financial accounting experience, who is keen to develop their knowledge and skill base further. A full study support package will be granted to the successful candidate.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting the Assistant Financial Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of fixed asset processing, monitoring and reporting. Monthly reconciliation of inter-company balances and preparation of information for the monthly liquidity report. Preparation of year end dilapidations provision calculation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Capital expenditure processing
Perform the month end Fixed asset addition, accrual, disposal and depreciation processes and Fixed Asset close.
Issue project codes to the business. Monitor all ongoing projects ensuring spend is within approved budgets, and ensure approval procedures are followed.
Maintain Property schedule with associated transactions.
Manage the Capex recharge account, ensuring any discrepancies are resolved and all costs are recovered
Capital expenditure reporting
Preparation of capex board pack report.
Liquidity reporting
Responsibility for preparing the weekly bank receipts and payments report for use in the monthly liquidity report
Other monthly tasks
Monthly reconciliation of intercompany balances and resolution of differences
Reconcile general ledger accounts for Fixed Assets, Finance Leases, Provisions, Recharges and Capex Accruals on a monthly basis
Tax reporting
Provision of detailed information required by Tax Manager for VAT and Corporation tax purposes in relation to fixed asset and dilapidation expenditure.
Dilapidations
Review the annual dilapidations assessment and provision adjustments using discounted cash flow techniques
Budgets and Forecast
Preparation of capex and dilapidation payment forecasts, on a quarterly basis.
Obtain information for the annual capex budget process, including details of any proposed internal staff capitalisations.
Other external reporting
Assistance with annual statutory audit, taking full responsibility for Group Fixed Asset and Dilapidations schedules
Acquire knowledge of balance sheet, group structure and statutory accounting, to be able to fully assist the Corporate Accountant and Head of Financial Reporting with the annual statutory audit.
Payment runs
One of the core team acting as signatories for all payment runs
Assistance to other teams
When time permits, provide assistance to other teams within the Finance department
Projects and System development
Maintain Capital expenditure policies for the business ensuring consistency across the company
Ongoing review of systems and procedures, and maintenance of fixed asset procedure manuals with a review to reducing reporting timescales and improving efficiencies.
Ability to provide capital expenditure advice to project teams, as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications/technical skills
Part qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
Strong academic background.
Excel – advanced highly desirable (pivot tables & look ups).
Good knowledge and understanding of accounting standards / processes, particularly in relation to fixed assets.
