Arthur Jackman Associates are working with a leading International Manufacturer, Sales & Service Group who have a requirement for an Accounts Assistant to join their organization.
You will utilise your knowledge & experience to work with the European Financial Controller as well as to maintain, process & monitor the day to day book-keeping – purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, cash, and sales processing.
Duties include:-
- Purchase ledger
- Debt collection and credit control ?
- Month end close of sales and purchase ledgers ?
- Non purchase ledger payments ?
- Calculation and posting of monthly journals, accruals and prepayments ?
- General ledger journals ?
- Balance sheet account reconciliations as required ?
- Allocation of US Head Office invoices to European branches ?
- Allocation and posting of bank receipts and inter-account transfers ?
- Bank postings and reconciliations for all accounts including foreign currency accounts ?
- Petty cash for multiple currencies ?
- Monthly parts invoice recharges to branches & Monthly costs recharge invoices to branches
- Month end close of sales and purchase ledgers ?
- Preparation of EC sales list and Intrastat on a monthly basis. ?
- Posting of VAT return on line ?
- Reconciliation of deferred duty statement to source documents ?
- Barclaycard and expenses processing ?
- Fixed asset register maintenance as required ?
- Involvement and assistance in annual and periodical stock takes ?
- Office Administration – Reception & Switchboard duties, Banking
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience of working in an Accounts Assistant position
- Experience working with accounts previously
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) competently
- Strong attention to detail
- Well organised
- Good telephone manner
- Comfortable to work within a small professional team as well as on their own initiative is key for this role.
Whats on offer
- Excellent salary £26,000 per year
- Upon successful completion of the 3 month probationary period the successful employee is eligible to join the contributory company pension scheme (employer contribution 7.5%)

- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Working hours 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch (37.5 hours per week).
