Agency Senior Sales Manager

This is a brilliant opportunity for an Agency Senior Sales Managerto join a successful, global publishing company. The Agency Senior Sales Managers are responsible for managing the Agency sales teams in Manchester. The SSM will lead and maintain excellent senior agency relationships and trading, and have a full knowledge of all agency business within their group/ team. They will be responsible for the day-to-day internal management of this team, including trading and performance issues. They will be responsible for the team’s deal and contract delivery, working closely with the London and Glasgow agency sales and Deals team. As the Client & Partnerships Senior Solutions Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively build new, and maintain existing strong relationships with all senior clients within the UK regional agency set, through regular client face-to-face meetings with team members
    • Drive the proactivity within the Agency team to ensure that we present and sell all of company’s offerings (at key times and where appropriate) to key Strategy and Planning, and Investment teams within the agency set
    • Build and maintain your own, and the team’s outstanding product and competitor knowledge
    • Set the budget and re forecast your agency group’s trading at key fiscal and quarterly times, as prescribed by the Head of Advertising Sales
    • Communicate relevant trading issues and observations to the agency team and Head of Advertising Sales, as well as crosschecking yields and market share position
    • Initial point of contact from senior agency personnel if sales issues result in escalation
    • Drive and develop the team strategy around building and improving relationships with key clients who book through an agency, to be at the forefront of all media owner briefs
    • Drive collaboration with wider company & Ireland Commercial teams to seek out, sell & implement new revenue opportunities as well as promote papers and digital within the company deals and contracts where appropriate
    • Work with the Head of Advertising Sales to deliver the XL strategy in Manchester/Dublin and collaborate and align with the overall sales management team
    • Liaison with relevant agency teams in other regions and London within the sales teams, to ensure deals are fulfilled and maximised across all platforms where possible
    • Champion and work with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth transition from a print based sell to a full cross platform sell including all digital offerings
    • Regularly monitor and report on agency/client performance to relevant internal stakeholders
    • Push for delivery of above-market advertising revenue growth and share whilst selling within internal volume/yield/quality parameters and matrix index set by sales team
    • Keep abreast at all times of the changing needs and strategies on all relevant products
    • Seek opportunities for personal development and team development
    • Work closely with the Head of Advertising Sales to ensure that culture and sales policy are optimised and visions and values are adhered to
    • Llead a strong motivated team, and address performance issues as and when they arise
    • Help to set and strive to deliver all set business KPIs
    • Maintain an upbeat, passionate and motivated departmental sales culture
    • Establish and build relationships across the wider company Commercial department
    • Pro-actively seek to innovate through sales initiatives that help drive revenue and team development
    • Support Head of Advertising Sales to deliver initiatives across the UK portfolio
    • Liaise with Head of Advertising Sales to ensure delivery against pre-negotiated deals
    • Maximisation of inventory across all platforms
    • Accountability for delivery of all revenue goals

Required Skills:

  • Proven track record of success within a media sales environment
  • Working knowledge of the UK market
  • Deep experience in negotiating
  • Deep experience creating and delivering presentations to existing and new customers
  • Solid key account management experience
  • Defining and implementing strategic approaches to sales
  • Familiarity with report writing & financial data
  • Team building
  • Involved in implementing strategic change
