Our client has a current opportunity for an Accounts Payable Senior Accountant within the Finance function of the GBS. This is an ideal opportunity to join the business at an exciting time of implementation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and record Accounts Payable journal entry postings in the general ledger for GBS supported entities
• Performing or assisting in the performance of period end close activities
• Performing monthly general ledger accounts reconciliations
• Supporting compliance with internal control processes and preparing SOX documentation
• Identifying management information needs, present findings and make recommendations regarding appropriate actions.
• Proactively reviewing established accounting practices and procedures. Recommend changes in and additions to such practices and procedures. Implement such changes where applicable and approved in order to enhance the department’s efficiencies and effectiveness
• Leading or assisting Accounts Payable projects.

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, our client requires the following background and/or experience:

Essential:

• Bachelor Degree (or equivalent degree) with a major in accounting, finance or business
• Experience with accounting and financial systems, specifically SAP
• Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel and to interact with all levels of management
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Proficient in personal computer skills (Excel and Word)

Desired:

• Professional Accounting Qualification (CPA, CA, CGMA)
• Speaks/writes/reads multiple languages
• Experience working in a Shared Services or Global Business Services environment
• Experience in a general accounting function of a manufacturing company and in general accounting (sales tax, reconciliations, SOX, intercompany)
• Oil and Gas industry knowledge and experience
• Experience in process improvement and application systems implementation
• Tenacity and ability work with existing resources to accomplish assignments independently
