Technical Manager

Salary: £60,000 – £66,000 per year

My client, a leading producer of food products for a variety of different sectors, is looking for a Site Technical Manager/Technical Lead for the processing site based in the heart of the Fens.

As a key member of the senior team, you will be responsible for leading a multi-dimensional team in ensuring that all the companies food safety business risks are managed appropriately. You will ensure that the business in place are robust, and are effective in delivering the companies requirements and standards with regards to food safety, technical, quality and legal compliance. Working closely with customers will be a large part of this job, so the ability to engage with key stakeholders on issues relating to food safety is also part of the successful candidates remit.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

– Developing company strategy around continuous improvement
– Develop and lead a culture of quality and food safety across the business
– Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with customers
– Effectively manage the supplier approval process, and raw material risk management
– Responsible for the companies range of systems and processes in relation to food safety, such as HACCP, BRC etc

Ideally you will at least 2 years experience in a technical leadership capacity within a food manufacturing environment. Technical qualifications or experience in leading HACCP L4, Food Safety and Lead Auditor processes is essential, along with the obvious background in BRC audits and associated accreditation. Knowledge of fresh produce, added value processing, freezing or coating would be preferred, with this experience complementing a vocational food based qualification or degree.
