Our client is a global commodities group with an established presence throughout the metals’ markets. A vacancy currently exists for a Machine Operator/Plant Assistant to take responsibility for running the company’s primary shredder. This is a key role as it dictates the production capacity of the full line, it is also the final quality check prior to material flowing through the line. Duties will be varied, some days you will be running the machine, on others you will be loading the machine via teli-truck/excavator (training provided). You will also work in close partnership with the Plant Manager to help rebuild the shredder when the blades are dull or when conducting general maintenance. On occasions if the Plant is down, you will also need to be prepared to help other areas of the Plant / run other machinery or assist in the yard.

Applications are invited from candidates with some engineering understanding and willingness to learn. The Plant works best when the machinery is well maintained and looked after so you will need to keep your area of responsibility clean, tidy and in good working order. Experience in the recycling industry is beneficial but not essential as full training and guidance will be given.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working Mon-Fri and every other Saturday morning (6am-11am). Two shift patterns are available – early (6am-2pm) or late (2pm-10pm).
