Salary: £48,000 – £66,000 per year

Principal Civil Design Engineer – Rail
Sidcup / Dartford
£48,000 – £66,000basic and excellent package

My client is a well-known and established multi-disciplined design consultancy. Due to a number of large project wins and a very full pipeline of new business they are seeking a Principal Civil Design Engineer with experience of Rail projects to join the Kent Office.

This is a management position sitting within in an existing team of 12 engineers. The successful candidate will be responsible for both managing a small team as well as delivering their own projects.

Responsibilities

• To project manage the civil and structural design of a large rail project.
• To review tender documentation and produce tender design deliverables, programme, required resources and costs.
• To perform structural analysis and design, and/or to check such work performed by others.
• To interface with clients, attending and, as required, chairing and minuting key meetings.
• Identify the need for building and site surveys and their relevance to the project, and ensure that they are implemented in time to meet the requirements of the project.
• Assist with leading the design process and encourage the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions to the agreed programme; support those more inexperienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
• Follow in full the document control, archiving CDM and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, and filed in an appropriate manner.

Required Experience
• The successful candidate will have good experience of working within a rail environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail and/or London Underground standards.
• Candidates to have experience of managing multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of Rail design assurance processes.
• Experience of managing a team including mentoring and training of graduate and technician staff would be beneficial.
• Ideally you will be degree educated and a chartered engineer.

In return my client offers a flexible working environment. They are a small to medium business who deliver great projects without losing sight of the core principals of building and developing the best engineers in the market.
