Logistics Coordinator (Prestige Cars)

Salary: £27,000 per year

Our client based in Dartford, Kent are seeking an Auto Logistics Co-ordinator to work within a small team in the Export & UK Car Transport Division.

This is a great career opportunity for an individual with a passion for cars, who is a car enthusiast, as you will be working with prestigious high end vehicles and should have a good knowledge of makes, models and features of a modern car. In addition to this it is essential to have 1-2 years’ experience in shipping & transport, exporting within UK and to Europe and other overseas destinations.

Job Description – This position has two very different roles to perform:

Part of the role involves running and managing the car storage compound and truck parking area and all processes required for incoming cars. The process involves surveying cars and preparing cars for export and assisting the drivers in loading cars onto car transporters – this part of the job will involve working outside sometimes in poor weather and constitutes 20% of the role.

The main part of the role involves assisting the Operations Manager & Assistant Manager in the logistics of the Car department in the export of new prestige cars.

Arranging collections and deliveries, booking and arranging container shipments of new cars to SE Asia, Indian sub-continent, New Zealand, and East Africa. Dealing with shipping lines, overseas agents and clients – this is a more clerical role which accounts for the main 80% of work time – it is a position that often means working under great pressure. Someone with an aptitude to learn, work hard, sometimes after hours and someone with not only a great work ethic, but great attention to detail is required.

Requirements include:

• Genuine and thorough interest in modern prestige cars. This role involves daily physical and administrative connection with a wide range of prestige new cars, a thorough knowledge of makes, models, and modern car features is essential.

• Responsible and professional attitude to being involved with expensive prestige cars.

• Diligent and precise approach to detailed work instructions for clients pre-shipment requirements.

• Sound IT skills with exact and precise work ethics required.

• Reasonable levels of eyesight are required as meticulous surveying of cars for damage is required.

• This position intrinsically involves: Pressure, telephone work, deadlines, negotiating skills and working after normal hours only candidates happy to be in this environment need to apply.

Essential requirements:

Clean drivers licence

Living within a 10 mile radius of Dartford

Knowledge of cars

1-2 years shipping experience within a freight forwarder, transport, distribution, shipping line or logistics company, either Sea / Ocean freight or European freight shipments.

Hands on role, someone who is willing to go the extra mile.

Able to work under pressure

Excellent communication / customer services skills

Strong IT skills

Monday to Friday 9 – 5:30 (working later when necessary)
