In Devon we have high aspirations for children in our care, and those leaving our care. Lifelong links is a project designed to improve outcomes for children by working restoratively to maintain or re-establish networks of family and community support. We are now seeking a highly motivated Senior Co-ordinator to lead and develop this exciting programme of work. You will be passionate about improving the experiences of children and young people in care, and ready to lead a team of four Lifelong links co-ordinators who will use family group conference methodology and work directly with children and young people.

As the lead for this project, you will supervise and champion best practice as well as engage with partners and stakeholders to develop the approach. You will be comfortable presenting and showcasing good work to a range of audiences. You will be responsible for collating data, managing the budget and for returns to the DfE who are supporting this project. You will be aligned to the Family Group Conferencing Team but co-located with corporate parenting colleagues. You will also build relationships with Personal Advisors, Independent Review Officers, the participation team, our Stand Up Speak Up Council, and mental health partners. You will contribute to the Mockingbird project, the Restorative Devon operational group and be a core member of Devon’s permanence panel.

This role will require you to work with skill, creativity, and determination. You will be predominately office based, with scope for some virtual working and a need to travel across the County as required.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Managing key elements of the project, including delivery of milestones and reporting to the DfE
  • Supervision to four Lifelong Links co-ordinators and oversight and guidance for a Youth advisor and mental well-being advisor
  • Oversight and direction of Business Support
  • Engaging partners, stakeholders and corporate parenting colleagues to develop key professional relationships with these service areas and to identify and plan effective Lifelong Links interventions
  • Manage workloads and workflow to ensure optimal use of time and resources
  • A lead role in the Project Steering Group to support and embed Lifelong Links within Children’s Services in the long-term
  • Producing reports on the work of Lifelong Links and its impact for children and young people
  • Contributing to Devon’s permanence panel

Interviews are planned for the week of 15th January 2024.
