Salary: £31.2 – £46.8 per hour
ENS have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 CPN to support the Mental Health Liaison Team at Southend Hospital. The start date will be 15th September for 12 weeks with an opportunity to extend for the right candidate.
The role is 3 shifts a week over a 7-day period therefore you must be able to work as per a normal ward rota and be able to cover days, nights and weekends. Shift times are 08:00-20:30 and 20:00-08:30
You will be required to complete a rapid assessment of patients presenting to the acute trust in a mental health crisis. You must have knowledge and understanding of mental health pathways and the ability to make decisions post assessment.
* To develop & maintain specialist clinical skills and expertise in the assessment of people with mental health needs and dementia.
* To receive and assess referrals from the general wards and Accident and Emergency Department.
* To offer advice on management of patients with mental health issues and dementia.
* To ensure nursing assessment, care and support of each client is appropriate to individual needs.
* To feed back outcome of assessment to the referrer and agree and implement the management plan.
* To ensure that clients requiring further assessment and help are referred on appropriately.
* To implement effective joint care planning for people who repeatedly attend A&E. To arrange admission to the mental health services in conjunction with the liaison psychiatrist and the CRHT.
* To support and encourage closer working relationships with other professionals with in the hospital.
* To support and participate in the introduction and delivery of short term psychological interventions for a specific cohort of individuals.
* To liaise effectively with staff on the general wards and maintain accurate nursing records that provide assessment reports to GPs and other allied agencies.
* To provide advice and monitor the use and provision of the Mental Health / Capacity act 1983 and other relevant legislation.
* To provide clinical advice / expertise health education, consultation, and staff support to other health professionals within the General Hospitals
