Project Manager (Design and Development) – Kidderminster – Salary: £54,000+

I am working with a well established manufacturing company who are seeking a Project Manager (design & development) to join their expanding team. 

The Project Manager will be responsible for the design/development of new products and delivering new product development projects on time and on budget.

This is a role for a technically competent mechanical engineer with a focus project management and with a passion for design and development. The role will primarily be a Project Management role but will also require the use the company’s CAD packages in use at the time (AutoCad and SolidWorks presently) to produce drawings and CAD models of existing and new products. The role will involve the organising of building and testing of new designs and prototypes as development projects require.

The Role

• To maintain the current designs, drawings and product documentation of existing group products. Ensuring adherence to legal compliance of machinery and associated adherence to health and safety legislation.
• Responsible for the design/development of new products and maintaining the designs, drawings and product documentation of existing group products.
• Ensuring adherence to legal compliance of machinery and associated adherence to health and safety legislation
• This post will also include project management, product development and documentation along with product introduction and design to manufacture.

• To manage the other designers in the department; Ensure they are performing to the levels expected and to support them with your engineering knowledge and experience to enhance their skill set over time. To hold annual employee appraisals with them and address any performance issues should they arise. To also engage and manage the use of sub contract designers as and when required.

The Candidate

• You will use the companies CAD packages extensively – AutoCAD and SolidWorks,
• Competent in design and development and able to produce drawings and models of both existing and new products.
• Will be creative, able to develop design specifications and sign off / review designs for manufacture
• It is preferable that some of your career has been in the packaging or material handling arena.
• You will be supported by a Degree in an Engineering discipline and be used to managing multiple projects, timescales and clients.
• Experience in developing new skills and contributing concept ideas for new products, also building and testing new products.
• Any hands on, practical assembly experience would be advantageous to have appreciation for the production processes
