Senior Test Automation Lead

Salary: £84,000 – £108,000 per year

Our client is a leading and long-established Fintech that counts the world’s leading Investment Banks and Hedge Funds among their clients. Despite the current pandemic situation, the company has a robust business model where revenue and client numbers have continued to increase throughout 2020 and into 2021.

Consequently, the company is now looking for a Senior Test Automation Lead. This is a new position that has been created where the successful applicant will be defining, designing, and implementing a strategy to create, extend and maintain automated testing on core applications.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the capability to design an agile testing framework, utilising TDD/BDD principles. This will be a senior role where your technical and strategic experience will be welcomed, and you will be supported by your peers in Development, QA, Product Management and DevOps and reporting into the Senior Project Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a “hands-On” Test Automation Lead to define and implement their vision for an automated test framework in a growing and innovative FinTech firm.

THE ROLE: Senior Test Automation Lead

Our client serves up huge amounts of data to end-users who rely on them to provide a complete and accurate set of data. We are looking to find new and innovative ways to present this information to users to highlight priority items, allow the user to navigate, filter, and sort data easily and to make the best use of new JavaScript presentation layers.

Our client forms a core part of the evolving FinTech landscape. With rapidly changing requirements, opportunities, and a great potential for new and unique services, this position will be working closely with an Agile team to ensure solid and successful product releases in place and with quality built into the products within the development lifecycle.

The role is for a hands-on Senior Test Automation Lead who has a great attention to detail and will enjoy working collaboratively with our business and development team to build attractive and practical web-based applications. The ability to interpret requirements, contribute to discussion utilising your testing expertise, and quickly turn these into automated tests is important. Safeguarding, taking ownership, and implement tests through to delivery, ensuring quality is built into the development process, bugs are identified early in the process, and being kept to a minimum. Knowledge of an automated test framework such as Selenium and a BDD framework such as Cucumber is essential and a strong knowledge of TDD would also be highly beneficial. We believe in continuous improvement and the successful candidate would enjoy sharing with and learning from a team of talented systems engineers who enjoy working in an Agile environment.

The successful candidate will be contributing their expertise to define the technical vision for the automated testing solutions and be able to agree on a suitable approach with Senior Management and the Architecture Group.

·Opportunity to drive, propose, develop testing initiatives and strategies.

·Actively create, extend and maintain test suites and ensure they are kept up to date.

·Work and encourage the development team to maintain the tests and continue improving the tests coverage.

·Work with Product Development team members and end-users to turn requirements into test suites ensuring we have the quality built into the final deliverable.

·Ensure tickets are refined with sufficient with detail, scenarios discussed, and with acceptance criteria written and kept up to date together with the team.

·Safeguard the application quality, have the courage to raise, challenge, and escalate issues including code quality, site performance and security related issues or concerns with the relevant team and stakeholders and to resolve appropriately.

·Actively report and maintain test and coverage reports, stats and metrics, and report back to the relevant team to resolve, reports are presentable and shareable for the wider business team.

·Opportunity to get involved in the existing API testing, frameworks, and technologies on cross products and platforms.

SKILLs & EXPERIENCE: Senior Test Automation Lead

ESSENTIAL:

·Track record of manual and automated testing

·Proven experience in test automation using various automation tools, frameworks and languages. E.g.: Selenium, Cucumber, TestCafe, SBT, JavaScript

·Demonstrable experience in converting business requirements into automated test scripts.

·Demonstrable experience with cross-browser testing

·Possess a good understanding of unit testing, test-driven development(TDD) and/or behavior-driven development (BDD), and continuous integration (CI)

·Experience of creating and maintaining load and performance testing and tools.

·Good understanding of exploratory testing and security testing

DESIRABLE:

·Experience of working in an Agile (SCRUM) environment within cross-functional teams.

·Knowledge of programming and scripting languages, particularly PHP, Perl, Scala, CSS, HTML5, and SQL

·Good understanding on API testing

·Experience of performance and load testing

·Experience in exploratory testing as well as security testing

·Security experience

o Knowledge of how to defend against CSRF and XSS vulnerabilities

o Experience with security token systems e.g., oAuth, SAML

·Various development and ticketing tools – Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Git, Jenkins

DESIGN / LEADERSHIP:

·Ability to propose good testing practices, tools and frameworks.

·Influence and able to lead the cross-functional development team to ensure quality is built into the development processes.

·Experience working across multiple teams.

·Experience in working with legacy code.
