Upholstery Senior Technician

Upholstery Testing – Senior Technician – Hertfordshire, from £26,000 per year, permanent contract.

Our client is one of the world’s leading providers of testing, calibration and advisory services. Their global network of laboratories and experts support many of the world’s most respected companies. They are currently recruiting for a Senior Technician for their upholstery testing department.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Ensure that test items are correctly handled, stored and conditioned
• All test preparation (e.g. cutting, sizing, labelling and affixing) to be in accordance with standards and procedures
• Enter and update all job status on testing system, ensuring all test results are accurately recorded and collated
• Conduct all tests to recognised test standard, methodology, procedures, UKAS and general quality requirements
• Understand and apply the relevant standards for each test and keep abreast of any developments in standards
• Coach and train Technicians on an ongoing basis
• Assist when necessary in the accurate production and sign off of test reports in accordance with the relevant test standards and UKAS accreditation
• Assist with the development and maintenance of SOP’s
• Responsible for health and safety issues within own work area and observing all health and safety regulations

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

• Experience working in an accredited laboratory/testing environment
• Knowledge of testing to recognised Standards and Regulations
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
• Experience within the furniture industry
• A keen learner willing to develop skills in any areas necessary
• A dependable and reliable individual who is able to consistently produce a high quality and quantity of work
• Good prioritisation skills
• The ability to reach decisions quickly and effectively
