Our client is a specialist niche manufacturing company supplying the precision engineering sector with specialist products to aid in the accuracy and measurement of their manufacturing processes.
Role and Responsibilities:
As Metrology Manager you will be responsible for the running of the UKAS laboratory and to ensure continued compliance to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. On a daily basis to carry out internal and customer gauge calibration. (Plug Gauges, Ring Gauges, Thread Gauges, Snap Gauges etc)
What you will be doing:
• Ensure the yearly UKAS reassessment and surveillance visits are successfully carried out in accordance with ISO 17025.
• Maintain the Laboratory Quality Manual ensuring it is correct and meaningful.
• Ensure laboratory / UKAS non-conformances and corrective actions are documented and acted on.
• Ensuring the UKAS certification process is effective.
• Maintain effective records of all calibrations and certificates.
• Controlling the calibration status of in-house inspection equipment.
• Measuring and calibrating customer gauges using a DMS 680 Universal Measuring System (ULM) and Trimos THV Calibration System.
• First point of contact with customers regarding UKAS issues.
Preferred Experience and Skills.
• Engineering Inspection Knowledge.
• Experience with UKAS procedures, ISO 17025,
• Experience with dimensional gauge calibration.
• Awareness of measurement uncertainties and uncertainty budgets.
• Familiarity with calibration recall database software. (QM Soft)
• Computer literate in MS Excel and Word.
Candidates should be positive and enthusiastic, with an abiity to use their initiative and experience to work efficiently with minimum supervision and to work to high quality standards.
Working hours: Mon – Thurs 8am – 4.30pm & Fri 8am till 1.15pm.
