Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

Highways Development Control Engineer Level 2/3

Wiltshire – one of the largest unitary authorities in England – is facing an exciting period of major growth. We are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity within our sustainable transport team to take a key role in helping to facilitate that growth.

LIVE∙WORK∙SUPPORT

By joining us you can play a big part in helping make sustainable development a reality – in an organisation where you can get the most out of your career, and your life outside of work too.

We are currently supporting significant housing growth planned in our largest settlements, as well as a range of major infrastructure schemes.

We provide a great working environment, with modern open plan offices at County Hall, Trowbridge which is easily accessible by public transport from Bristol, Bath, Salisbury and Swindon. We operate a flexible approach to working, allowing officers to ‘hot desk’ from offices located throughout the county, and to work from home.

About the role

Working closely with colleagues in planning and highway engineering, you will influence the quality of development and infrastructure across Wiltshire.

As one of our highway development control engineers, you will bring proven experience and skills to a role dealing with the risks and opportunities arising from development proposals. You will identify transport impacts, mitigation and infrastructure requirements; negotiate effective legal agreements to secure requisite solutions to maximise community advantage; and ensure that the transport and highway interests of all stages of development are delivered to an appropriate standard.

About you

Do you have experience and a range of skills that you can bring to our highways development control team?

To join us in this role, you will need a proven working knowledge and experience of current transport planning/highway engineering technical and legal requirements.

You’ll also need to be familiar with the planning system, and for the higher grade, hold corporate membership of a relevant professional body.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
