Computer Aid Design Technician

This is a key drafting, records and administrative position within the design team, assisting our Design Engineers with Electricity, Gas and Water utility infrastructure projects. From drafting budget designs to as-laid records, the CAD Technician will ensure that drawings are accurate, compliant and delivered within agreed timescales.
Role
º Assist the Design Engineers in delivering gas, electricity and water infrastructure design drawings, from budget mark-up to as-laid records
º Prepare 2D CAD electrical design drawings for new electrical connection projects consisting of:

o Geographic High Voltage cable routes
o Geographic drawings showing the location of existing utility infrastructure
o Multi-core electrical wiring diagrams
o Electrical schematic diagrams

º Produce as laid drawings from site survey information
º Undertake surveys of existing substations and produce layout drawings
º Ensuring drawings are accurate, compliant and delivered with agreed timescales
º Re-drafting of external design elements and hand sketches on to AutoCAD templates
º Offer full drawing support to clients and the design team
º Provide a high, maintained level of customer service at all times to both internal and external clients
º Maintain drawing record database
º Undertake utility network searches
Candidate
º Basic understanding of gas, electricity or water infrastructure, however training would be given to the right candidate
º Experience of 2D drafting
º Experience of undertaking site surveys using total station or similar
º Previous knowledge of Network Records would be an advantage
º Must be proficient with AutoCAD
º Maintain a keen attention to detail
º Excellent communication skills
º Produce and develop general arrangement drawings
