Trainee Construction Surveyor / Estimator

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and forward thinking Construction company based in Bedford as a trainee Estimator/Surveyor. Full training and support will be given and there are excellent progression opportunities for the right candidate.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• To prepare all tender and contract documents from receipt of enquiry until submission is complete including bills of quantities.
• Receiving, acknowledging and checking tender documentation, raising queries as necessary.
• Pricing and preparing tender enquiries.
• Interpreting specification and measuring from drawings.
• Undertaking cost analysis.
• Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Performing risk, value management and cost control.
• Attending site visits for valuations.
• Raising and costing variations.
• To support and assist other members of the staff as required, including answering the phone, dealing with emails and helping with deliveries and visitors to the office.

Skills & Attributes
• Must have completed a college course or have a relevant qualification in Construction Management or Surveying.
• Have strong IT skills including Excel & Word.
• Must be an excellent team player.
• Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
• Must be self-motivated and driven.
• Must have excellent written skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
