Engineering Technician

Salary: £38,400 per year

Engineering Technician required for Ipswich based manufacturer. Ideal candidate will be hands on, dealing with setting up, testing, servicing and repairing of equipment, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (Not Food), that demands both mechanical and electrical skills.

General duties:

* Help control, record, service and repair specialised equipment, machinery and modules (full specific equipment training will be offered)

* Set up specialised equipment for work which requires the moving of equipment into position, assembling and testing before handing over to machine operators.

* Be first responder for break downs on all machinery

* Work alongside the Technical Manager to improve overall efficiency of the department and offer support in his absence

Maintenance

* Be capable of both mechanical and electrical fitting and repair work.

* Service, repair and ensure all machinery, equipment and modules are kept in the best possible state to help reduce down times, change-overs and maintain good housekeeping.

* Service and repair all ident machines and equipment including the island placers

* Ensure equipment is properly stored

* Aid the technical team to control and keep records of all machines, equipment condition, location, spares and work carried out.

* Machine Guarding, help improve, manufacture and control unique guarding

Health and Safety

* Promote compliance with Health and Safety and Safe Systems of work Procedures

* Promote Health and Safety awareness to all staff including Manual Handling

* Check correct safety procedures are followed during setup and machine guards are fitted during machine operation.

Ideal candidate will have minimum 3 years+ experience within the Manufacturing industry, good Mechanical and Electrical experience, be proficient in fault finding and repair and be self-motivated, logistical and flexible and strong team player yet capable of working independently and spontaneously to help implement improvements

Hours 8 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Salary c£38,400free onsite parking, subsided canteen and once permanent addition benefits include Death in Service. Own transport essential due to location.
