Laser and Press Break Operative

I am on he hunt for a Laser/Press Brake Operator to work with my prestigious client in Barnsley.

Laser/Press Brake Operators are responsible for carrying out all functions relating to the safe and efficient running of the laser cutting machine (currently Trumpf L3030) and press brake machine (currently LVD PPEB 220 Press), minimising downtime, and production of parts thereon to company-specified quality standards and pace of work, dealing with and providing associated documentation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
With regard to the laser cutting machine.
* Programming (currently using TOPS Optimation MAZAK software) to cut materials as instructed via standard operations instructions, design drawings/blueprints, work orders, routine sheets. Scheduling at a pace in line with Company highest standard
* Set-up and running of the machine.
* Loading/unloading of sheet steel/cut parts (including use of fork lift truck and overhead crane).
* Daily and weekly maintenance and cleaning of the machine
* With regard to gases and other consumables:
* storage, inspection, maintenance and use in line with company and suppliers’ instructions, Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
With regard to the press brake machine (currently LVD):
* Press braking of parts required for manufacture of company products, or sub-contract press-braking, accurately, as detailed on drawings, and at a pace in line with proven company standards.
* Set-up and programming new parts.
With regard to all machinery/equipment:
*Routine inspections, maintenance, cleaning and fault-finding, and recording of, in accordance with documented procedures.
*Proactive/reactive reporting of faults/defects, in timely manner to line manager to anticipate/minimise downtime.
*Repairs/replacements of consumables within limits of authority and responsibility.
*Removal of scrapped/waste materials to designated areas.
*Co-operate with line managers in procurement regarding stock levels.
*All above duties to be carried out using safe working practices in line with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions, and in line with Health and Safety legislation.
*Accurate and timely recording (manually or electronically) of:
o output and hours utilised;
o scrapped/waste materials;
o quality check sheets;
o other production/quality-related documentation as required.
* Any other duties within the capabilities and training of the individual in line with the needs of the company.
* To attend training organised by the company in-house or off-site.
* To maintain confidentiality regarding company information.
* At all times to present a professional image in line with company standards.
* All duties to be carried out utilising safe working methods and appropriate PPE, with due regard to the Health and Safety, COSHH and other relevant legislation.

Qualifications / Experience / Skill Requirement / Essential Elements

* Experience/kMethodof the individualthe training and capa overhead craneallyttne with company procedures and manufacturer’ sheetsttend or innowledge of laser nesting software.
* Experience/knowledge of laser cutting.
* Experience/knowledge of manufacturing environment.
* Fork lift truck (counterbalance) certified and experienced.
* Health and Safety, COSHH, LOLER and PUWER basics, and specifically manual handling and use of overhead crane.
* Experience/kMethodof the individualthe training and capa overhead craneallyttne with company procedures and manufacturer’ sheetsttend or innowledge of press brake software.
* Experience/knowledge of press braking.

Package & benefits

Up to £26,000 per year
37.5 hours per week
3 shift rotation (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am)
30 % shift allowance (2pm-10pm)
40 shift allowance (6am – 2pm)
