Shift Production Manager
Hours: Initially rotating shifts Monday to Friday but will be moving to continental shifts (2 days, 2 nights 12 hours 4 on 4 off)
The Candidate
You will be an experienced Shift Production Manager with a proven track record of working in the FMCG, food or packaging industry. You will have the following skills, experiences and attributes…
• You MUST have a minimum of 3 years management or supervisory experience
• You MUST have experience of working in the FMCG, food or packaging industries
• Experience of managing a large number of staff e.g. 20+
• Ideally you will have a degree in manufacturing or engineering but this is not essential
• Engineering process knowledge – preferably in packaging
• Experience of working to ISO and BRC standards would be beneficial
• Straight talking, direct but fair management style
• Hands on
• Lean manufacturing experience
• Experience of monitoring and improving KPIs
Shift Production Manager
The Role
During core hours you will have responsibility purely for production but outside of core hours you will have responsibility for the whole site. You will manage a team of circa 40 staff and the main roles and responsibilities will include…
• Manage the individuals on the shift to create an effective production team.
• Recruit, train and develop shift personnel to meet their full potential as individuals and to motivate the shift as a team.
• Maintain the GMP standards, policies and practices as defined in Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure that the shift is efficiently manned to meet the demands of the Production Plan, using Standard Manning Levels.
• For non-standard production tasks required by the business, manage the deployment of additional labour in the most cost effective manner.
• Employ agree best manufacturing practice to optimise shift output and to ensure that the optimised performance is maintained throughout the shifts.
• Ensure that all members of the shift team, including associated support functions, are made aware of current production and quality issues at the start of and throughout the shift.
• Ensure that the oncoming shift, including associated support functions, are made fully aware of production, planning, maintenance and quality issues.
• From time to time, as necessary, arrange and perform briefings to the shift team.
• Ensure that the standard documentation for production control, performance reporting, product quality and personnel data is both complete and accurate.
• Manage line changeovers to minimise downtime.
• Ensure that the associated functions of mixing, maintenance, warehouse and quality are contributing to the efficient performance of the shift.
• Ensure that the shift is aware of all planning changes, trials, engineering work that may affect the shift.
