Salary: £54,000 – £60,000 per year
Our client is a major employer with impressive track record of supplying precision equipment and associated software to global industries including the healthcare sector.
This is a leadership position where the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of medical imaging, medical image processing, image segmentation, image registration and 3D atlases. Additional knowledge or expertise in such fields as: robotics, 3D graphics, neurosurgical mobile computing, microstructure analysis or process control would also be useful.
Responsibilities of this role will include:
• To be a key player in setting the company’s neurosurgical software development plan
• To develop and implement world-class medical imaging algorithms
• To grow the Biomedical Software Development group, particularly in the fields of image processing, image registration, surgical process control and robotics
• To develop a strategy for the for use of open source and academic research software within a commercial environment
• To instigate and develop collaborations with academic medical imaging centres
• Writing and publishing research
Skills and experience sought will include some or all of:
• Leadership experience
• Qualified to PhD or Masters level in an appropriate discipline, or be able to demonstrate an applied background in the field of medical image processing
• A strong track record in research along with relevant publications
• Strong mathematical skills and proven experience of algorithm development
• Hands on software development in C, C++ or C# or similar
• Knowledge of coding in Matlab, COM, MFC, ATL, C, C++ or Visual C++
• Familiarity and knowledge of multi-axis motion control theory and robotics
• Knowledge of, or exposure to, formal software development processes
• Numerical methods used in developing 3D graphics
• Development of software within a regulatory framework
The successful candidate will possess demonstrable leadership qualities, excellent communication, interpersonal and technical skills obtained from a research and development/medical imaging background. They will have good hands-on skills and a keen eye for detail.
