Full job description

Insight Executive Group

Salary: £60,000 per year

Overview

Insight Executive Group are proud to team up with Essex Fire and Rescue Service – one of the largest rescue services in the country – to source an experienced Category Manager. The primary purpose of the role will be to develop FM and Construction category-specific purchasing strategies within the procurement division and roll them out.

This exciting new role provides a fantastic opportunity for the post holders to embrace the full procurement cycle, from setting the procurement strategy for your FM sector to managing the procurement process and ongoing contracts. You will be required to demonstrate your strategic thinking and practical negotiation and communication skills by building your category from the ground up within the service’s procurement team.

Location, Flexibility and Benefits

While the rescue service is based in Essex, the footprint for applicants can be stretched much wider as you will be given the opportunity to work flexibly for four days a week, with the requirement to be in the office one day per week.

As well as the opportunity for flexible working, these roles are packaged with generous salaries, the Essex Fire and Rescue Service local government pension scheme, and more.

Key Tasks

1. To deliver the full sourcing life cycle, from strategy creation and execution (supplier qualification, assessment, selection, and contract award) through to implementation (supplier mobilisation and transition) and contract and supplier management.

2. Establish working relationships within the organisation, project teams and collaborative partners, such as Seven Forces.

3. Identify external third-party expenditure required and translate ideas into comprehensive proposals and presentations to influence stakeholders.

4. Establish and lead cross-functional and cross-programme teams to manage the development and implementation of the purchasing category strategy.

5. Deliver the purchasing category strategy – including sourcing activities through insight and analysis of category areas.

If you’re keen to take your category management experience to the next level by building your category management activity from the ground up and if the idea of managing the full procurement cycle excites you, please get in touch with Mike Kennedy ASAP.
