Recruitment South East

Salary: £60,000 per year

This company helps UK commercial organisations gain access to highly valuable UK R&D Tax Relief. This is very specialist and doesn’t fit comfortably under the remit of most accountancy practices – although there’s a wide spread of opportunity across multiple sectors. They’re looking for a Technical Writer – to join their small, tight team who punch deals well above their weight – probably with a background in Data Science, AI, Engineering or Bioscience, or even a professional interest in the Blockchain.

THE JOB

You’ll be interviewing client company senior management and technical personnel to reveal the, as yet unexplored opportunities for R&D Tax Relief, and make technical presentations to HMRC that substantiates the claim in a language they’ll understand.

As part of the wider team, you’ll also get involved in sales and marketing activities, such as networking, trade shows, blog writing, and webinars. This is a client-facing and visible role, so you may be asked to make presentations to professional audiences from time to time.

In all, this is an interesting and varied role, in a bright outfit that’s going places.

It’s a hybrid role that will involve some time in the office, as well as sometimes traveling the UK to meet clients that may occasionally need overnight stays.

THE CANDIDATE

You’re able to plan and organise your own timetable and work independently. You won’t be micro-managed. Nobody deserves that – but you will be expected to join in with the rest of the team from time-to-time.

There’s also some essential skills and experiences you’ll need to bring with you:

  • The capacity to turn complex projects into straightforward written reports for the HMRC that makes a case they’ll judge holds water.
  • A background in Data Science, AI, Engineering or Bioscience, or even a professional interest in the Blockchain – or similar.
  • A background as a Project Manager or Scrum Master, or at least the capacity to organise people around you and agree objective and deadlines with them.
  • Strong formal and informal communication and listening skills with a wide range of audiences from the board room to technical support teams.

The company understands that candidates may hit the criteria to variable degrees and are happy to support, train and coach people, especially as they settle into a new role. You’ll also be committed to HMRC forum attendance.

GEOGRAPHY – The company office is on the East Sussex coast, but as it’s a hybrid role, with some travel needed, they’ll be happy to consider candidates from further afield – although more time will need to be spent in the office as you settle into your responsibilities in a new team.

PACKAGE – Annual salary is up to £60,000 + 5% bonus, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a healthcare package.

INTERVIEW – All candidates will be interviewed remotely by Martin Ellis as Recruitment South East before being presented to the company to arrange interview with the

This role is exclusively with Recruitment South East Ltd.
