Mental Health Recovery Worker
Full job description
Rethink
Salary: £26,000 per year
Rethink Mental Illness is a charity that believes a better life is possible for millions of people affected by mental illness. For 40 years we have brought people together to support each other. We run services and support groups across England that change people’s lives and we challenge attitudes about mental illness.
Situated in a residential area of Sevenoaks, this 7-bedded, supported housing service provided its tenants with short-term tenancies with on-going daily support in order to gain the skills to successfully move on into independent living.
Our housing services provide a supportive home environment that paves the way to greater independence and recovery. We help people with their day to day living and social skills, as well as providing access to social activities, further education, employment and training.
Working with people in their own homes or in supported-housing schemes, you will give a range of emotional and practical support, as well as supporting individuals with domestic tasks and developing daily living skills. You will also liaise with partner agencies, housing providers and voluntary organisations to direct tenants to the services and facilities that best suit their personal circumstances.
We’re looking for a great relationship builder, working directly with the people who use our services. With a good understanding of mental illness, gained either through work or personal experience – you will also be qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent). Good communication and organisational skills are essential.
Rethink Mental Illness is passionate about creating a diverse workforce and positively encourages applications from under-represented communities.
