Weekend Cook

Our client is a well established care home operator seeking a Cook to join the team to work weekends at their lovely, small nursing home in Huddersfield.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that nutritious, varied and well-balanced meals are provided to all residents, taking into account preferences, requests and dietary requirements.

You will be responsible for:

• Preparing and cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner for residents.
• Working with the Kitchen Manager to control the catering budget
• Submitting and monitoring food orders and liaising with external organisations to ensure that food is ordered to meet the requirements of the home and within budget when required
• Providing support, guidance and advice to staff about food
• Understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements, such as Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health
• The safe use of all kitchen equipment and ensuring damage and faults are reported appropriately
• Cleaning and ensuring the kitchen environment is tidy at all times

You will be an active and important member of the overall care home team and you may be involved in team meetings.

The successful candidate must have experience in a similar setting and preparing meals for large numbers of people. Full training will be provided, however basic food hygiene and other relevant certifications and training would be beneficial.

The role is subject to an enhanced DBS. This position if for a Cook to work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, usually 8am – 4pm.
