Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per year

RDR is currently looking to recruit an Instrument and Electrical Engineer on behalf of our client based in Teesside on a permanent full-time basis.

As part of the engineering team, you will manage the I/E infrastructure in a defined area of the plant. You will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is installed and maintained so that it is safe, fit for purpose and complainant with all corporate and UK legislation.

Job responsibilities include;

  • Manage, motivate and develop the engineering team reporting into the I/E Area Engineer.
  • Manage plant inhibits, trips and alarms. Develop periodic KPI’s to ensure resolutions are in place in timely manner.
  • Ensure that all Proof Testing, Protective Earthing and Hazardous Area testing is planned, scheduled and completed by due dates, escalating any significant defects and managing subsequent remedial work in accordance with national and corporate requirements.
  • Ensure area trip, sequence and control valve strategy is developed and followed across plant.
  • Identify and manage I/E equipment obsolescence via the Asset Life Plan and annual CAPEX renewal program. Ensure asset life plans are in line with appropriate IEC / British Standards.
  • Develop team members to help transition the asset maintenance strategy to being more Predictive and Preventive and less reactive.
  • Work in conjunction with site project team to direct and lead I/E related projects.
  • Ensure that general I/E defects are planned and remediated in an appropriate timescale to ensure that asset safety is not compromised.
  • Foster an environment where I/E Continuous Improvement ideas are generated by all asset personnel and manage their implementation.
  • Work alongside Maintenance Manager to ensure that the weekly plan is suitably resourced and liaise with Responsible I/E Engineer on matters of codal and corporate compliance.

Required Qualification and Experience;

  • A relevant degree in an Instrument or Electrical discipline or able to demonstrate similar level technical ability via experience/alternative qualification.
  • Significant I/E Engineering experience gained in the chemicals manufacturing or similar business sector and have a working knowledge of relevant I/E British Standards i.e. BS EN 60079 series, BS 7671, BS 61511 etc.
  • Experienced people manager, familiar with motivating the team, setting objectives and carrying out performance appraisals.
