Designing/Engineering retail display equipment in metal, wood, glass and plastic. The suitable candidate will have a real impact on the functionality and success of equipment and furniture we supply to the UK’s biggest and well known retailers. The Technical Designer will work very closely with our client facing Design Managers to produce the detailed production drawings/specs and 3D models from which the designs can be manufactured. A hands-on technical role where the ability to turn concepts into meaningful, workable and practical design solutions will be key.
Duties & Requirements
• Creation of CAD drawings/models from an internal brief
• New product design of retail display equipment
• Attend sites to review products and concepts and take detailed survey information
• Drive the design process and take a key role in the following cycle:
Produce detailed production drawings for prototype manufacture.
Review and critique prototype
Prepare drawings for mass-production.
• Liaison with subcontractors to handle design and manufacturing queries.
• Creation of visuals and other sales literature for client approval.
• Checking/Approval of supplier prototypes
• Must be an intermediate user of Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks able to hit the ground running from day one.
• Must be able to demonstrate experience of taking design projects from brief to delivery.
• Must have demonstrable experience of creating drawings for manufacture.
• Must have experience of designing/detailing retail display equipment in metal, wood, glass and plastics.
• Must be a practical person with experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must have a good understanding of MS Office.
• Preferable: Knowledge/Experience of Autocad
• Preferable: Able to create visuals for non-technical client approval
