This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of new high profile projects and be involved in the development of these from the very early stages.
The Senior Project Planner is responsible for guiding a Project Core Team in the management of all planning, scheduling & progress control related aspects of a project in accordance with a Planning & Scheduling Process.
Skilled in using the main business planning tool Primavera with the ability to plan and manage Project Scope of work and related deliverables. The plan will be developed using a generic WBS which will be used to Cost and Progress Management throughout the project.
The Project Planner will establish, update and progress the Manufacturing Supply Agreements and Train Services Agreement Project Plans including leading and supporting their harmonization and integration with other Plans (schedules) from Functions, Business Groups and External Suppliers involved in the project. They will need to challenge planning schedules, update, track and report progress and KPI’s against a Baseline.
The Senior Planner is expected to understand the Project Plan (Orange Book) plus associated schedules and represent the Planning Function in Team Meeting discussions and where conversations are likely to impact or affect the ‘Project Schedule’, plans be able to provide planning detail on risks and opportunities to the planning within the Project. Subsequently working with Project Managers and other Functional Planners to proactively develop scenarios, mitigation or back-up plans (schedules) as required.
Responsible for guiding a Project Core Team in planning of activities to deliver a project using standard tools
Responsible for establishing and updating the Detail Project Schedule based on common objectives within the project
Responsible for monitoring & reporting on schedule progress/deviations within all parties involved.
Responsible for communicating the Detail Project Schedule to all parties involved in the project, including any changes.
Responsible for regularly monitoring critical path(s) of schedule to identify risks and opportunities and develop mitigation or recovery plans.
Lead meetings related to DPS topics within the Project Core Team and with other functions
Manage, with the support of all Project Core Team members, the effective communication of the current DPS to all relevant stakeholders, including any updates
Ensure that schedule implications of change requests are made visible and clear prior to presentation and decision making in the Change Control Board.
You will need to be able to demonstrate considerable senior – lead project planning experience ideally within the rail or similar engineering manufacturing environments, similar experience of project planning within civil projects, power generation, utilities – infrastructure – oil and gas will be considered.
