Rotheram Carrington Recruitment Group are pleased to be working with a very well established professional services organisation based in the Chester area offering flexibility and hybrid working. Our Client is seeking an Operational Finance Manager to oversee their operational functions within the finance team. This role will be managing a team of 6 in finance so previous management experience will be key. This role sits within financial control and will work cross-functionally with multiple areas of the wider business. Stakeholder management is a key element to this role as you will be liaising at all levels with finance & non-finance Heads of Departments, Managers, Senior Directors. This is a great opportunity for an individual that has a desire to drive efficiencies throughout, run multiple projects simultaneously and manage the day to day running on the financial control team.

Reporting to the Head of Finance

Job Title

Finance Manager – Operations 

Operational Line Management – AR, AP, Reconciliations, Payroll, Costs

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the division’s revenue streams across costs, revenues and the general ledger functions
  • Production and review of the month end process including full P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Managing a team of several direct reports at varying levels
  • Providing monthly management information and analysis to key senior stakeholders across the divisions (analysis of revenue and costs against budgets & forecasts)
  • Pro-actively engaging with non-finance senior stakeholders to ensure they are managing their costs effectively
  • Creation and analysis of annual cost budgets
  • Updating and maintaining the fixed asset register under IFRS16 regulations
  • Completion of year end statutory accounts, liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Oversee payroll process and sign off, working with the payroll team to guide and implement efficiencies, self-sufficient team
  • Adhere to professional accounting standards and policies supporting audit to minimise risk or fraud
  • Continuous process improvement, ensuring a robust control framework across operational finance, identifying and highlighting areas of risk
  • Ad hoc financial projects and analysis as directed by the Head of Financial Control such as future M&A activities, change and system developments, tracking of data across cost base

Skills/Experience

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA Qualified – Essential
  • Previous background within a regulated environment such as financial services, insurance, business services – Advantageous
  • Staff management experience (monthly reviews, performance reviews as required)
  • Understanding of payroll legislation advantageous
  • Highly proficient Excel user (pivot & look up tables, modelling financial data)
  • Previous experience using ERP system
  • Ability to thrive within a fast paced environment and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills is a key element in this role as you will be liaising across multiply functions at all levels including senior stakeholders
  • A desire to continuously drive improvements around financial control and system process

Salary/Benefits

  • £60,000 – £74,400 per annum (plus 10% discretionary bonus based on personal & company performance)
