About the Company

Mackenzie Stuart are working in close partnership with a UK based dairy ingredients company. The company has been providing soft and liquid cheese ingredient solutions for over 20 years. In this space of time, they have established a strong name in the market as one of the key players in British cheese ingredients. With facilities in various locations across Europe, the company have a growing and diverse range of ingredients which are sold both to the nutrition and convenience food sectors.

About the Role

Accountabilities:

Quality Management System –

– Maintain a documented QMS which reflects the site’s commitment to Food Safety, Legality and Quality and satisfies customer and BRC standard requirements. Carry out regular audits of the QMS and ensure effective and timely corrective action is taken and fully documented when necessary. Carry out quarterly EFSIS compliance audits to ensure compliance with BRC standards.

– Maintain a HACCP team and a documented HACCP system. Implement annual review and write up of HACCP as agreed with the UK Technical Manager (process step and flow chart part of the review) and update Quality Manual.

– Manage on site Pest Control contract. (Currently Ecolab). Ensure all requested actions are followed up and closed out.

– Co-ordinate between the Environmental Management System and the QMS when required. Ensure a system is in place to control and monitor services and prevent risk of Food Safety being endangered. Work closely with the HSE Manager to ensure effective reporting of irregularities in the services area which could affect product safety or cause out of specification product.

– Liaise with regulatory bodies and other outside organisations as required. Source information, attend seminars or undergo training as required to reach an adequate knowledge of food law, guidelines and new development in Quality.

Customer Interface –

– Provide the interface to customers on quality issues and satisfy customer requirements. Support resolution of customer complaints and work directly with customers to ensure resolution within agreed KPIS. Allocate complaints to relevant department for investigation and provide responses to customers as necessary.

– Carry out visits to customers, in conjunction with BDM’s where necessary. Implement training sessions for customers where requested. Conduct customer (and TSO / EHO audits) where required and follow up on actions to close out. Co-ordinate customer quality visits and audits to site as necessary.
About the Person

The client is looking for someone with existing experience within a site based QA role with a demonstrable understanding of dairy products supported with a technical understanding of ingredients and the manufacturing processes; pasteurisation, homogenisation, incubation and cooling and their effect on finished product quality, viscosity, texture, taste etc.
Qualifications required:

-Educated to degree level or equivalent in Food Science, Microbiology, Food technology or a related degree discipline
-Significant experience of food manufacturing processes, including H&S, Quality, Legality and HACCP.
