Buyer

Salary: £30,000 – £48,000 per year

Our client is an established and highly reputable builder. They currently have a permanent requirement for a Buyer to provide procurement services to the main company and various developments throughout an assigned region.

Regular duties will include:

• Preparation of material schedules
• Comparison and appreciation of accuracy of rates within the market place
• Management of procurement of both materials and services in line with specification, budget, cost, etc
• Expedition of materials / services to meet pre-start programme
• Collation of plant hire data
• Preparation of cost plans and budgets
• Addressing enquiries to suppliers, analysis of responses, etc
• General office duties and associated ad hoc tasks

In order to carry out this interesting and varied role, applicants should have a good knowledge of materials commonly used in the construction industry. You should also possess effective negotiation skills and have a solid understanding of the marketplace dynamics. Additionally, you will have the ability to analyse quotes with particular attention being paid to budget, price and specification.
