Job overview:

• Responsible for all Purchasing & logistics activities – production and non-production
• Ensure all team members are aligned to the plant strategy and have associated goals and targets.
• Review and standardise procedures across sites (using Nav)
• Be the representative voice of the customers/suppliers and represent the Business at the customer/supplier
• Develop supplier strategies to maximise leverage and reduce total acquisition cost
• Ensure compliance to any relevant business standards

Key duties & responsibilities: 

• Delivery (Supplier & Customer)
• Inventory plan (Raw Material & Finished Goods)
• Logistics organisation inbound & outbound
• Stores management
• Creating and managing dept. budgets including reduction initiatives
• VA/VE & Process improvement
• Supplier monitoring and measurement to include corrective actions for poor performance
• Cost down tracking
• Continual improvement of purchasing function
• Ensure suppliers have the relevant certifications with UKAS approved status
• Ensure Customer needs are being met and ISO/TS systems are being maintained
• Monitor, update and maintain KPI’s identifying positive and negative trends to develop action plans focused on continuous improvement
• Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or materials.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances or claims against suppliers
• Develop a supplier database.
• Assist and support project engineering, sales, program and key account managers and quality engineering with preparing quotation to win new business and support existing customers

Candidate requirements:

• 2-3 years in purchasing within a manufacturing environment
• Experience of fast pace manufacturing environment – Automotive and/or Aerospace industry an advantage
• Qualified or CIPS qualification
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Supplier management
• Technical knowledge
