At Novus, we have a great opportunity to join the education team at HMP Wealstun as a Learning Support Practitioner on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.
What the role entails
As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing support to men to help them to identify and access their education goals and make good progress. You will be required to set targets to help them with their learning plans and in addition, you will write learning support plans and assist teachers with strategies to support inclusion across the curriculum.
What we need from you
To be successful in the role of Learning Support Practitioner, you will need:
To have an understanding of how people learn and methods that can be used to enhance a learning experience
To have a track record of working effectively with people presenting with challenging behaviour
Effective communication & interpersonal skills
Good IT skills
Maths and English at level 2 is a minimum with a Special Educational Needs (SEN) qualification preferred or to be achieved as part of probation
