VHL Lecturer (Mathematics: Functional Skills/GCSE)

Salary: £26,000 – £38,329per year

Location: Multi-Site Campus and Outreach, Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes College are looking for an innovative and inspirational Maths teacher to deliver on campus and in community settings. They welcome applications from those with teaching qualifications and experience but are also prepared to consider other applicants who show potential to be excellent teachers.

About the College

Milton Keynes College is a leading Further Education College providing vocational, academic, professional and higher education courses across four Milton Keynes based campuses. The College also holds the contract to deliver the Offenders` Learning and Skills Service at various prisons and young offenders institutions.

Main Duties

– To teach Maths up to level 2 Functional Skills / GCSE on campus based and outreach programmes
– To play a significant role in the design, development and delivery of programmes of learning which meet the needs of the College`s students and which satisfy internal and external quality assurance criteria
– To understand the learning needs of the student population and be able to deliver challenging and exciting learning sessions
– To be responsible for recruitment of students and the promotion of Mathematics in the Faculty
– To prepare, teach and mark as required, using value added and other data to set challenging targets
– To take on the responsibilities of a course leader and work as a co-operative course team member
– To undertake internal verification and liaise with the External Verifier as necessary
– To act as Personal Tutor and agree, set and monitor SMART learning targets and use ILPs effectively
– To assist in the administration of learning and to maintain accurate records of students` learning activities including learners` progress, assessment schedules, schemes of work, course reviews and induction programmes

Essential Criteria

– Hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
– Hold a teaching qualification
– Have experience of teaching Mathematics up to and including G.C.S.E.
– Have an awareness of the nature and content of Progression Qualifications, Functional Skills/G.C.S.E.
– Be able to teach in a way that inspires, challenges and develops students.
– Have good general IT skills including use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
– Have the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
– Commitment to students and students` success
– Demonstrate good time keeping and have evidence of a good attendance record.
