What: Environmental Health Officer Where: Brighton When: ASAP How much: £26.4 per hour Contract: 3 months initial

Looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join a local authority based in Brighton, on an initial 3 month contract.

· To undertake a range of Environmental Health duties (specialising as directed) within Private Sector Housing to bring about improvements to housing conditions and to secure a healthy and safe environment.
· This is achieved through advice, investigation of complaints, education and enforcement of statutory provisions.
· Maintain an awareness of the legislation in respect of Health and Safety
· To prepare, as necessary, reports and statements as proof of evidence
· Undertake inspections in accordance with current procedures to ensure the council complies with its responsibilities under the relevant legislation, identifying required remedial action

Experience

· Previous local authority experience is desirable
· It is not essential for candidates to be EHORB Registered it would be an advantage
· Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or relevant science degree
· Experience is Environmental protection work
· Good knowledge of Environmental protection legislation
