Applications Engineer

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our Bradford based automotive manufacturing client for an Applications Engineer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting customers by providing technical, design, and product application guidance to meet customer needs.

Your key duties:

• Confirm technical options to meet customer requirements including design and thermodynamic options
• Interpret customers engine requirements and complete match process
• Identify technical requirements of project, internal and customer activity required to launch product into production including all design, Validation & Release and prototype activity
• Ensures all technical risks are documented and resolved before SOP following the DART process
• Work to DaRT process in line with overall project timing, creation, updating and tracking of indicated documents using the appropriate templates
• Support customers with the resolution of any technical issues prior and post SOP
• Identify customer development requirements and feed back to internal project team, including prototype demand and timing of different build levels
• Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies
• Work with other departments to ensure that all technical aspects of the project are completed to best engineering practice and in line with project timing
• Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned
• Identify changes to project technical scope and timing and ensure that the internal departments affected are aware of the change
• Provide technical expertise in root cause analysis of engine test data and turbocharger failure both Pre-SOP and Post-SOP
• Lead the development of qualification testing to ensure full qualification of turbocharger

As a minimum the successful candidate would need the following qualifications:

• Bachelors Hons Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering degree along with the membership of a professional institution
• At least 5 years of engine/engine component and preferably turbocharger experience and customer interfacing
• Must have strong technical skills in mechanical engineering, especially turbochargers
• The individual should have basic knowledge of fundamentals of internal combustion engines. The ideal candidate with have 3 to 5 years’ experience in diesel/petrol engine or automotive component development
• Candidate must be proficient in use of the Microsoft Office package: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook

40 hour working week, excellent salary plus benefits dependent upon experience
