Welfare Rights Advisor / Advocate x3 (Advice Services)
A number of opportunities available to provide advice to vulnerable people relating to energy management.
Family Action has been building stronger families since 1869, and today works with over 45,000 families and children through 120 community based services. Thousands more are supported with financial assistance through education and welfare grants programmes.
Position: Energy Advice Roles (3 vacancies)
Roles Available: 1 x full time Energy Advice Worker, 1 x part time Energy Advice Information Worker, 1 x part time Energy Advice Co-ordinator
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Hours: 22.2 hours – 37 hours (depending on the role)
Contract: All posts are a one year contract
Salary: £26,000 – £30,769per year (depending on the role)

About the Role:
Family Action Bradford`s Canterbury Advice Centre has received funding from British Gas Energy Trust Healthy Homes Programme to deliver an Energy Matters Project, aimed at delivering energy advice to people most vulnerable to fuel poverty.
They are seeking to recruit a team of three workers that will deliver a new range of Energy Advice Services to people affected by fuel poverty in Bradford. This will include face to face advice around income maximisation, welfare benefits take up, debt management, reducing fuel debts, money management, energy efficiency measures, switching suppliers and the impact on health of being “fuel poor”.
The team will also produce written resources and deliver training workshops around energy awareness and energy management to families and professionals; working closely with Children`s Centres, Schools, Better Start Bradford, Perinatal Support services, Health professionals and Community Organisations.
About You:
must have experience of advice/advocacy support work and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage service users. You must be highly organised, able to work under pressure and able to deliver all project outputs within a fixed time period.
For two of the posts, you must be multi-lingual, verbally fluent in English and either Urdu or Punjabi.
