Salary: £26,000 per year
Learning Provider: Delivered by Capita
No Experience Necessary
Vacancy Description
A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core are work preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.
Traineeships help unlock your great potential and give you the work preparation training, maths and English and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job.
This Traineeship Opportunity is unwaged, but you will receive £26,000 per year travel expenses and a HD Kindle Fire Tablet, which is yours to keep if you complete the programme.
Eligibility
To enrol on the Traineeship programme you need to be:
• Unemployed and have little or no work experience
• Keen to improve your skills and find work
• Either: Aged 16-18 on 31st August 2013 and hold qualifications below the equivalent of 2 A-levels. If for example you hold one A-level, or just GCSEs you are eligible.
Aged 16-24 and hold qualifications below the equivalent of level 3 apprenticeship.
If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible or not, or not sure whether a Traineeship is for you, get in touch and we’ll guide you through it.
Traineeships are a brilliant new way to help you build your skills, gain invaluable work experience and – if you’re successful – access Apprenticeship and other job opportunities with Barclays.
Traineeships consist of three elements:
• Training: five weeks of full time training to help you improve your skills and prepare for work. During those five weeks you build the skills you need to find and stay in work – including support to improve your reading, writing and maths if you need it. You’ll also learn how to make a great first impression and give your best in job interviews.
• Work experience: up to six weeks work experience with Barclays. When you join our Traineeship programme we’ll match you to the work experience placement we think will best work for you. During your placement you will get to watch others in action and do real work yourself. At the end of your work placement you’ll have an interview with your host employer.
• Apprenticeship & other job opportunities: the opportunity to progress from your Traineeship into Apprenticeship as a Telephony Personal Banker with Barclays. All of the businesses who provide work experience placements are open to offering you an Apprenticeship or other job in their business.
Throughout your Traineeship you will be supported by a dedicated coach who will help you make sure that you make your Traineeship work for you. You’ll also be able to access our huge online library of tools and resources to help you.
When you enrol on the programme you will receive a tablet computer that you’ll use for various learning activities throughout your Traineeship. If you successfully complete your training and work experience placements you get to keep the tablet.
Barclays
are the main business we’re working with. They offer 2 week work experience placements all over the country which they use to identify the young people they want to recruit to their Apprenticeship programme.
We’re also working with Barclays customers all over the country to help them do the same – provide you with the experience and support you need to access Apprenticeship and other jobs with them.
Barclays is one of the most recognisable brands on the high street, and over recent years they have made a significant commitment to the promotion of skills and careers of the UK’s young people. Since April 2012, Barclays have welcomed young apprentices in all areas of the bank, from the branch on your local high street, to contact centres, and even some in their head office in Canary Wharf.
This traineeship programme is the great way for you to take the first step towards a career, particularly in financial services. If at the end of our traineeship you are successful in securing a permanent role with Barclays, you will join their award-winning Apprenticeship programme, and will continue to receive the support you need to build the necessary skills to kick start a rewarding career.
