We give you, alongside your workplace, the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to gain your Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. Upon completion, this qualification will enable learners to apply for registration with the GDC.

We are licensed by NCFE Cache and ESFA to deliver the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice of Dental Nursing. 

About the Apprenticeship Programme:

Please note that this is a Government funded course, therefore there is no fee to pay for learners who meet the criteria. 

Important things to note:

• You must be 16 years or older to be able to take this Apprenticeship
• You must be able to work full time (30 hours plus per week and flexible with working hours). 
• Suitable to learners who wish to learn their skills and knowledge on the job, and who would like to earn a wage at the same time as learning. 
• The qualification takes between 18 months to 2 years to complete. 
• Please note we can only support learners in ENGLAND only (We apologise but cannot support students in Scotland or Wales).

What is the Trainee Dental Nurse role like?

A typical day for a dental nurse will involve welcoming patients and making sure they feel reassured and at ease for their dental appointments. Each appointment will vary, some patients will come in for check-ups whilst others will be there for cosmetic dentistry consultations or more in-depth treatment such as dental implants, root canal treatment or orthodontics.

The dental nurse is required to support the dentist in their work, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and materials are to hand in order to provide efficient treatment for the patient. Some patients will feel nervous, and the dental nurse is crucial in helping to comfort and reassure them.

In addition, the dental nurse will also take notes for the dentist and update the patient’s records and will also be responsible for the decontamination of instruments. In some cases, dental nurses will also help out on the reception desk too – there is never a dull moment in the day and there is plenty of scope to progress into other roles after dental nursing.
