The Books Commercial Team is seeking a Books Account Manager to manage channel sales & business development activities in line with Emeralds 2014- 2020 revenue expectations. The Books Account Manager is responsible for growing revenue in the EMEA and APAC regions, and the role will involve analysing the market & results, monitoring targets, driving sales, identifying opportunities & visiting key customer and agents/distributors on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Generation
Oversee the consistent growth of identified territory revenues through both direct and indirect sales; identify new accounts for direct sales; take action to ensure customer needs are met along with specific sales goals and objectives; manage print agent representation of Emerald Books in the EMEA and APAC regions; continue relationships with key decision makers at major accounts through site visits and regular email and telephone correspondence.
2. External Relationships
Form key account relationships with all agents/distributors and significant direct customers in all territories and maximise the contribution they make to overall sales goals; research competitor activity and identify market trends and opportunities; attend key conferences and undertake regular sales visits (sales visits to agents/distributors and direct customers comprise up to 25% of working hours)
3. Internal Relationships
Work with key books stakeholders at Emerald to ensure appropriate ownership of activities crucial to overall books commercial success, including (but not limited to) channel marketing of print and eBooks; supply of eBook files and metadata; and design, production and dissemination of Emerald Books promotional materials. Work closely with Publishing Team to contribute to development of Emeralds commissioning strategy. Act as liaison with Emeralds Western (UK and EMEA) and Eastern Hemisphere teams to ensure appropriate Books representation at conferences and cross-promotion of Emerald Books in the region.
4. Business Development
Analyse and assess the market, working closely with Business Development, Marketing, Publishing and Production departments to inform the development of overall business strategy, plans, product improvements and sales prospects; and create initiatives to solve problems and maximise sales
5. Reporting
Provide regular feedback to Books Commercial Manager on current markets served as well as emerging markets; ensure use of internal and external systems to analyze account performance and contribute to long-range revenue forecasting; review revenue reports provided by Business Information and finance teams and provide analysis to Books Commercial Manager.
6. Contribution to Books Commercial Team
Support Books Commercial Manager in all activities relating to Books Channel sales, specifically deputizing at internal and external meetings as required. Work with Books Commercial Team to support activities concerning (but not limited to) management of Turpin Distribution relationship and Emerald Books adoption activities in assigned territory.
Attributes
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and have a decisive and assertive approach to challenges. Computer literacy skills are essential, and the ability to represent the department effectively within the company and at industry events is required. Prior experience of working in a competitive international sales environment in a publishing capacity is preferred.
