Manufacturing Operations Manager or Production Manager to join an engineering manufacturing business. They are investing in new production manufacturing equipment and have a growing order book.

The Production Operations Manager will focus on manufacturing efficiencies and developing the production team and production engineers. Core activities and production operations deliverables:

·Driving the daily productivity drum beat, openly challenging instances or poor standards, and openly praising a good job.

·Working with other managers in sales, supply chain, quality and planning to improve efficiency and throughput.

·Take responsibility for production planning by working closely with the sales team, understanding the order intake, telling the purchasing team what to order, and planning labour requirements and machining capacities to deliver to plan effectively.

·Exploring opportunities to use mechanical handling, robotics and automation to free-up skilled labour and increase efficiencies (this could range from lifting gear to lights-out matching).

·Devise and lead manufacturing facility projects such as introduction of clean room inspection, and value-add services such as assembly prior to despatch.

·Introduce a change to double-days shifts.

·Take the lead with work place culture and standards; maintain and improve the “great place to work” objectives.

Salary & Package: £52-60,000 + benefits and bonus

This job will suit a Production Operations Manager with:

·Experience of metal components manufacturing and very likely to have a background working within engineering, and the ability to read technical drawings or understand 5 and 7 axis machining.

·A visible manufacturing leader, shop floor based, able to guide and mentor staff and be a beacon of what good looks like in terms of work place disciplines, clear and regular communication about shift targets, acceptable behaviour and praise where it is due.

·The ability to run a small, growing specialist business unit which sits within an international organisation.
