Production Supervisor

Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per year

Our Client is a leading commercial manufacturing company and they are looking for a Production Supervisor.

Purpose of the position of Production Supervisor:

The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage a team of operatives to ensure all products are manufactured are of the highest quality and within a safe environment and that they are working in a safe environment.

Setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the company’s plans and vision.

Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.

Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.

Health & Safety, Environment

To ensure all safe working practices are being adhered to throughout the site, ensuring correct PPE is being worn and taking corrective action to deal with any noncompliance.

To ensure the department is running in line with the company’s environmental policy, waste being segregated and pallets etc. stored in the correct locations.

To ensure that all relevant safety checks are being conducted; signing of the Light barrier checks; liquids are being stored in COSHH cupboards etc.

To promptly act and report on any health and safety issues that have been identified through the near-miss process, eliminating any health and safety hazards.

To ensure that any accidents are reported and investigated promptly by following the accident reporting procedure.

Quality

To ensure manufactured components meet or exceed expected Quality standards.

To ensure all quality procedures are being accurately completed.

To ensure all operators have the knowledge and understanding of all quality requirements and to review any quality issues that may arise.

To be proactive identify and suggest for ways to improve quality.

To ensure that any non-conformance is dealt with promptly through the application of the ECR, MQA & Deviation processes.

Operational Performance

To effectively deliver the daily production plan to ensure departmental delivery schedules are met.

To ensure the correct manning is in place to enable the department to run effectively, including the overseeing of planned holidays, absence and shifts.

To ensure that the number of overdue lines in the department is minimized, with the goal of getting to zero.

To ensure the efficiencies of the department are maximised with the goal of achieving current targets.

To effectively communicate to key stakeholders i.e. daily huddles, shift handover, production meetings.

To document machinery and equipment failures and agree on the necessary actions to restore production quickly.

To ensure the smooth implementation of new products and their processes.

Housekeeping

To ensure the area is kept clean, tidy, organised and in a presentable manner.

To ensure that all aisle ways and traffic areas are kept it clear at all time.

To monitor and measure all area to ensure 6S requirements are met.

To ensure TPM programs are being followed.

General

To attend daily production meetings to discuss quality, progress, daily plan/issues and people.

To ensure the effective management of all people issues i.e. absence management, conducting return to work, disciplinary and grievance matters.

To coordinate job rotation and cross-training within teams and department.

Identify and carry out training and development needs for the personal growth of team members.

To ensure the team have a good understanding of the departmental performance targets and goals.

To ensure that performance/conduct/capability issues are dealt with in a timely manner.

To work within collaboration with members of the management team to achieve KPI’s and determine areas of improvement.

To ensure T&A is updated, such as shift changes, absence and holidays and to inform payroll of any shift premium.

To oversee and ensure that any process checks are taking place such as audits, sign-off etc.

To identify and manage improvement projects within the Assembly area that have a positive impact on Quality and Efficiency.

This list covers main duties but is not exhaustive, you may be asked to carry out other duties in any of the manufacturing areas dependent on the requirements of the business.

Required Technical Skills for a successful Production Supervisor:

* Supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

* Experience in achieving/exceeding operational KPI’s; operational, service, quality, safety and cost targets.

* Knowledge of Health & Safety, Quality and Build Standards or equivalent working experience.

* Demonstrated understanding and basic knowledge of 18001, 14001, 9001.

* Ability to understand and utilise Lean Manufacturing tools to aid problem-solving; 8D A3, 5Y, Fishbone.

* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.

* IT Literate.

Desirable Technical Skills

* Understanding of Process Flow production methodology.

* Working knowledge of SAP.

* HNC Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.

* IOSH or NEBOSH.

Working Hours/ Days: 8am to 4.30pm / Monday to Friday
