Salary: £46,800 – £49,200 per year

Purpose of the job

Management of assigned projects through the design and operational stages, observing the need to smoothly progress these projects across departments. To provide high level, specialist support for the effective resolution of technical issues arising during the design, manufacture and testing of pumps and major factored equipment.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Deputising for Engineering Manager where appropriate.

Arrange for technical support on activities for the assigned projects, including, where appropriate, pre-sales support.

Instruct, direct, motivate, supervise and monitor the performance of all members of the allocated team.

Reduction of operating costs, improving efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

When appropriate to attend engineering design reviews for each order or contract and arrange specialist support when required for assigned projects.

Attend kick off, contract award discussions, client meetings & internal technical meetings to ensure that all parties understand the work to be undertaken and clarity if given on key project milestones for assigned projects.

To be the first point of contact from the Engineering department for technical support i.e., customer, supplier and internal related queries for assigned projects.

To ensure technical clarification and approval of the OED (Order Entry Dossier) to ensure a clear and correct single point of reference, arranging for specialist support assistance when required for assigned projects.

Highlight the requirement to expedite design critical late documents to the relevant departments for responsible projects.

Support shared services during the project, including the transfer of information and adherence to relevant global methods of working – for assigned projects.

Review order specifications and identify clietns engineering scope.

Control the preparation and issue of schedules, specifications, calculations, drawings, requisitions and lists to satisfy design, manufacture and customer requirements.

Support technical questions relating to drawings and technical data (including vendor drawings and data) issued to the customer.

Attend engineering design reviews and offer technical support to the execution of the pump &/or packages on the shop floor.

Support the technical content installation operation and maintenance instructions when required.

Support and drive continuous process and tool development, participating in global design & standardisation initiatives.

To liaise with the customer to clarify any technical questions and problems during the production process, particularly circumstances requiring customer approval.

Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.

Ensure your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.

Co-operate with the requirements of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy management systems.

Co-operate with the company to enable it to discharge its own responsibilities effectively.

Mechanical Engineering Degree (or equivalent)

HNC/Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering

Relevant experience within related industry
