Salary: £44,400 per year

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to cover the north west region working from home for a Warrington based office, providing support to data centres.

The Role:

To provide our customers with onsite interventions primarily related to hardware failures that are logged via our field service management ticketing system. In addition, there is a requirement to perform Professional Services interventions that will be requested from time to time, these are normally detailed in a customer Statement of Work (SOW). The objectives of both activities are to provide the customer with a speedy and professional response leading to an improved customer experience.

The company supports its channel partners customers on multi-platform, multi-vendor data center hardware, including, HPE, IBM, Dell and Oracle. Including Servers, Storage and Network devices.

Core working hours are 37.5 hours per week, usually and wherever possible within standard UK business hours. The nature of the Field Service Engineer role does demand an amount of flexible working which may require an element of non-business hours working. Such instances are compensated accordingly.

The company operates a 24x7x365 rota pattern for engineers, the field service engineer will be required to take part in this rota pattern for a minimum of 7 days in any one calendar month.

The role is field based, and the engineers will operate from their home address, direction will be given from the Service Desk or Management team, it is expected that the field service engineer will spend one day per week at the company’s offices, whereby they may receive training, work updates and perform other duties as required by the role.

Parts and hardware relating to the above activities will be despatched from one of the companies forward stocking locations (FSL’s). They will be sent direct to the customer site or to the field service engineers home address. On occasion the field service engineer may be required to collect the part from an FSL including one of the company’s parts hubs in Cirencester or Warrington.

The role is UK based but on occasion there may be a requirement to travel outside the UK to other European locations. A level of flexibility is required to facilitate this.

The field service engineer will use their own vehicle and be compensated on a mile’s driven basis at the rates that are in place at the time as dictated by the UK HMRC. Alternatively, at the company’s discretion they may receive a company car allowance or company vehicle

Responsibilities

It is estimated that 80% of the time will be dedicated to hardware failures and 20% of the time to professional services engagements

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics is required*

Formal industry qualifications are not mandatory but are a distinct advantage

*The academic qualifications are not mandatory, experience in an engineering role, either internally or in the field will be considered far more advantageous.

Functional / Technical competencies

A minimum of two years working in the environment described above are required. The successful candidate will be expected to be part of the existing maintenance Rota. They will be required to spend 7 days per month on 24×7 standby.
