Senior Financial Accountant

Salary: £54,000 – £60,000 per year

The Company

Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with an innovative and rapidly growing FinTech business who are based in Edinburgh. The organisation have approached us to support them in the recruitment of a senior financial accountant to work within their corporate finance team. 

The organisation operates a flexible, hybrid working structure, however you will be expected to be office based during the week and as such, we are looking for candidates who are located within a commutable distance to the Scottish Central Belt (within 1 hour).

The organisation is a relative newcomer to the FinTech industry, and their strategy has been to operate well below the radar to emerge as a global player in the industry!

With ambitious expansion plans in terms of financial turnover and staffing numbers, several posts have been newly created this being one of them. The role holder will report into the entity financial controller and will be accountable for the continued growth of the business.

The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the financial controller with the continued growth of the business. The financial controls team consists primarily of traditional transactional finance such as AP, AR, Treasury, Payroll etc. Due to the fact that the business is emerging from start-up into a scale-up business a large number of systems, controls and processes are in their infancy. This role holder will be instrumental in the adaption and implementation of new systems and controls.

No two days will be the same, but you can expect to be responsible for the following;

Supporting the business in month-end close activities.

Accountability for the production of consolidated individual entity management accounts.

Review of budgets, forecasts and actuals and provision of associated variance analysis/commentary.

Work with 3rd party stakeholders and produce performance related external month-end reporting packs.

Review of balance sheet reconciliation process and aid implementations to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the process.

Assist the finance department in the implementation of a purpose built ERP system and aid the business in the transition from heavy reliance on Excel to the new system.

The Requirements

We are seeking a professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA) who is based in or around the Scottish Central belt. The role would suit an individual who has come from a financial accounting or audit background and who is technically highly credible. The organisation is rapidly growing and the landscape is constantly evolving and changing. Or client has identified that not everybody is comfortable in an environment where there is limited structures and processes. We seek an individual who relishes the thought of coming into work each day with new challenges and scenarios. The finance department particularly are heavily reliant on Excel spreadsheets so advance use of Excel is paramount.
