We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the Co-operative Food Team in a unique financial accounting role that will offer you real variety and the opportunity to test your analytical and technical accounting skills.
At the Co-operative, things are changing. Fast. Right across our business, our renewed focus will see us become the UK’s top convenience retailer. And we’re looking to recruit, develop and empower a talented Assistant Accountant who’ll help to make it happen. Yes, it’ll test your accounting skills. And the road ahead will bring fresh challenges. But if you’re an ambitious finance professional with a commercial edge as sharp as ours, it’s your chance to gain exposure, make an impact and manage change on a whole new scale.
Working in the Financial Planning & Accounting Team, you’ll be responsible for managing cash distributions and accurate commercial income accruals for the UK independent Co-operatives. In addition to monitoring and reporting of financial controls and commercial KPIs to ensure that our businesses profit is optimised. Using your proven accounting skills, you’ll perform complex calculations to ensure accurate and timely cash distributions are made to independent societies. As well as using your analytical and problem solving skills to review and challenge income forecasts provided by Commercial Finance.
We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant who is proactive, flexible and has the proven ability to identify and solve complex problems. Ideally, you’ll be part-qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification. More importantly, you’ll have proven experience in a financial accounting role, strong excel skills and enjoy working with complex information. We’ll be looking for you to have experience of forecasting, managing ledgers and account code reconciliations. A high attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders across buying, commercial finance and the wider Finance functions is also essential to this key role.
Huge exposure. The chance to collaborate across a uniquely diverse organisation. The scope to grow your skills – and of course, our success. At the Co-operative, it’s all here. Including investment in our people, and our business. We’re gearing up to become the UK’s top convenience retailer, but we need great people to help drive us there – finance professionals as passionate as we are about championing a new era for retail.
